The moment you have all been waiting for
Mood:  cool
This site will self destuct soon, due to many things, but primarily the upkeep. I have however created a place that you can still read about my thought of bike racing, love, art, and music. Click here to view the all new Colonels Corner. There is less stuff going on, and things are a lot easier to edit. I will keep a photo album somehow, and update a few other highlights from the current site. Anyway, feel free to leave me comments on the new blog-spot, that way I can figure out how big of a tool I am.

Riding behind cars with girls
Mood:  a-ok
Well, the girl was driving...and the girl was my wife. I finally bucked up and did a motor-pacing workout. After completely burning my legs out, Krista nearly ended it all by hitting her brakes for a passing bird. Luckilly, she honked her horn and got my attention to do a little juke n' jive.

Not much else today...work, riding, a core workout, some pasta and ice cream, and I am enjoying a nice little nite cap as I write this message. More tomorrow

Ouch
Mood:  caffeinated
This past weekend really hurt. How bad did it hurt???

That bad. Ok, I don't look too bad in that one, but I think the photographer felt bad for me, and didn't upload any of my pics with the hurt face on.

Yeah, 10 days off the bike proved to hurt real bad. I actually felt fine, until I tried to do anything. I am pretty sure I could have just chilled out in the pack, and finished the races...however, I am just a little to excitable to do something like that. Hopefully things will work themselves out before this weekend.

On top of the races being not-so easy, it was a bajillion degrees outside (well, more like a hundred, but after 80 is pretty much a bajillion). After I lost a bottle in the Dogfish Race (on lap 2), I retired about a half hour later, to go seek a sprinkler to cool off.

We stayed with Johnny in STL...thanks Merlis, you guys rock. BTW, I felt the race went absolutely great. John and Laurie, along with all the volunteers did a fabulous job.

Oh, I didn't even tell you how everyone did. As you can imagine with the heat, these were true races of attrition. None the less, Johnny was able to cope with the heat, and make it in the top 10 each day. Nagy placed just outside the top 10, and Jason hung in the Dogfish race, and survived the violent day. I on the other hand, got my @$$ handed to me both days, and pray that it does not happen again.

Krista and I will be neighbors to the Prozenbergers as of July 1...we just signed a lease on a really bitchin' house with a pool to boot. First pool party BBQ is TBA, but coming soon.

What else is kickin'??? K and I still have no idea what crazy tropical disease we have; hopefully, we will know soon, so we can decide if we need to move to paradise, and live out our final days. I am just kidding, both of us are feeling much better...still a bit on the down side, but for the most part all good.

I heard from one of my best-gal-pals, Angela, the other day. She is doing well and sweeping up the scene in Canadia (yes, that is the proper spelling for our northern friends). You can check out her progress at Elitewave

If you don't want to know how Micah is doing, you can visit his blog here
Micah is actually doing fine. We touched base last evening and had an excellent conversation. He is off and kicking in his new job, and found out that he may be able to do a bit of bike racing. We all sure hope so.

The only person lately I have not really had a solid contact with is my man Toe-mas (aka: Thom). We have played a bit of phone tag and from what I understand, he is doing well and digging his new gig in New Mexico. Thomas, I think I am it, and I will hunt you down.

So, that is about it, I should have more later: Peace out

Hot off the press
Mood:  chillin'

Today's entry is all about pics I took from the side...Notice my lovely wife Krista.

And this is Isabella, the local PP-Cock.

Well, Krista and I are really kind of sick...only partially. I feel as though my symptoms are subsiding, but that still didn't stop us from going to the doctor to have some blood work and other (and much more invasive) labs done on us. We should know what kind of tropical disease we have in a matter of days.

In the mean time, I am not really supposed to do much. I am still going to try and race this weekend, but no promises will be made. I did manage to sneak in a core workout before heading over to the Prozenberger household to help celebrate Alicia's B-day. She turned 23 today (just kidding, she is 29, but she doesn't look a day older than 23) and Jason and lil' guy inside joined in the party. Krista baked a strawberry cake, and we watched the new reality TV show about 1-hit wonders. Good times. Krista and I are going to go scoot around on bikes tomorrow, and then I will work. We also have a lot of house cleaning to do before we leave for the weekend.

Sorry, one more...this is Krista and I re-enacting the cutting of our cake...my folks missed it at the reception.

Catchin on and catchin up
Mood:  bright
This is what a cyclist looks like at the beach.

If a cyclist found himself at a beach, this would likely be the one.

So, these are some pics from my honeymoon (thus, why you haven't heard from me in some time). This was a blissful time of not riding, and hangin' out with my wife, Krista. We had a blast, and more pics will follow (I will probably upload some to the website under my pBase account, so stay tuned). On the honeymoon, we decided to eat parasites, or so it seems, because we are both really sick. Fortunately, we did not let it ruin our fun, we just had to take short breaks from fun every-so-often.

I got on my bike for the first time in 9 days, yesterday. It was also the first ride back on the Santa Cruz...quite fun. It is kinda like starting over again, but then later in the ride realizing that everything is still probably there, just a little dusty. I think the break will definitely be a good thing come August, when everyone despises their bicycles, and I am just coming to love mine again.

Today, we finally caught up with the Prozenbergers, and ate...you guessed it; El Maguey. After some chili verde' and a margarita, K and I went to the local grocer, for some food items.

Sorry this is brief, but I have an early morning ahead. More posts to come, I promise.

Gettin' Hitched
Mood:  amorous
Well, I am sitting in the pastor's office with my crew of groomsmen, minutes before Krista and I's wedding. I am a bit nervous, but mainly due to the ill weather, and horrible traffic hold ups on hwy 44. I will be heading down to the Dominican Republic tomorrow morning, and will not be updating this anytime soon. For entertainment, and a catch up on my times, check out Jason and Alicia's Blogs...

28k dial up
Mood:  happy
So, I have been chillin' @ the rent's house for the past 5 days. Internet has not yet reached Rolla, so they suffer with a dial up connection that I choose not to deal with. As you may have guessed, I am back in BoCoMO doing some final deeds before the wedding this weekend.

Thomas and I have been enduring the Tour de Tired...a long arduous journey to seek laziness. We have been gowning to bed late, waking up late, and barley riding bikes. ON the note of riding bikes, I am super motivated right now. I am currently rebuilding my Santa Cruz to be equipped with the 10sp components of today. When I get back from the Dominican, I will have a completely new bike to ride. Well, not really, but it will feel like it.

So, the Rolla Races were over the weekend, and things went really well. I have sort of build my season around the past two weekends, which may be kinda cheezy, but oh well. It worked out ok. I got 4th in the Rolla Crit, and 12th in the RR, after covering everything that moved while my home boy Jason was off the front. Anyway, I am really excited that my body ended up coming around, and look forward to bringing it back up before the end of the season.

Thomas came down to Rolla on Monday to hang out and virtually "chill out" for the weekend. We have been sulking in our nothingness and enjoying every minute of it. We have been so lazy, I am not sure I will be able to get back on track. We will see.

I am getting married this weekend, if you didn't get the memo. I am really excited about the coming events, and can't wait for Krista and I to start our new life together. We have grown a lot together, and I am so happy to have been blessed with such a great gal.

That is about it for now; and I am not sure when I will update again, however, I will do my best. Hopefully, sooner than later.

Still flailing for solid ground
Mood:  incredulous
Well, I have not kept to my word about keeping everyone informed. However, if you have been reading Jason's Blog, you probably have a pretty decent idea what I have been up to on the bike.

That is about one tenth of the story right now. Wedding preparation is coming down to the wire, and I will be getting hitched in 9 days. That is completely insane. I am very excited, and really looking forward to Krista and I's big day.

One of my best friends, Thomas, is preparing to move down to New Mexico to pursue his career in Human Performance and Exercise RX...Unfortunatly, that does include him leaving Columbia, which brings a bit of grief to my life. However, again, I am super excited that he has this opportunity and I am happy he is seizing it.

Krista has been sick, but is finally coming around. Some funky sinus infection or something. I really don't like it when the doctor doesn't really know exactly what you have, but gives you drugs anyway. Thank you Matt Bond and Matty-X for going to DO school.

My cat has officially discovered that the outside is way cooler than the inside. She tries to escape nearly every time the door opens now. Paola, I am watching you.

For those who aren't informed (which, accounts for just about everyone, since I am a lackey) I got a new car and it freakin' rocks. I bought and old co-worker's 2000 Ford Focus ZX3...it is red, and best of all, it gets 30mpg...much better than the mileage my truck gets.

While on that topic, my truck is for sale; it is a 96' Nissan 4X4. As far as 4X4's are concerned, 16-18mpg isn't all that bad, if you have to have an off roader. E-mail me if you are interested. Also, while on the topic of selling things, my full DA Airborne is for sale as well...some of you may think I am giving up bike racing, and that is a lie. I just need some cash, and well, I have two bikes. Sometimes, sacrifices must be made. It will be going up on Ebay next week, before Krista and I leave.

So, that is the world of not racing; the world of racing has not been all that much different from life in general. There has been a lot going on, some good things have happened and some bad. The first day of Quad Cities I went down hard, but limped through the rest of the weekend. I have a lot of stories I am supposed to tell, however, I think I will save them for references that will only make sense to those who where there...that way, I can keep on confusing my 3.7 readers out there more than ever before.

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

I am doing this purley to beat Micah
Mood:  a-ok
So, the title pretty much sums it up, but as you can see, Micah and I have been slacking a bit on the entries...I am hoping that changes soon. Until then, I will provide you all with an encapsulating picture of Krista and I's relationship:

You guessed it...up a shit creek. Just kidding. Things have never been better between her and I, and thanks to my man Thomas, one of the glorious moments has been captured on film.

Rewind
Mood:  crushed out
It is finals week, and I can't believe I am even taking the time to update this...however, I really haven't taken the time to study, so I guess it is fine.

Friday- I didn't ride due to a little syndrome called the brown bottle flu. I went out on Cinco de Mayo and had a bit too much fun. Bummer. With my night of debotury, I decided that going to race a hard, hilly, 90 mile RR would be a bad idea.

Saturday- Instead, Jason and I stayed home and did a death-march to Harrisburg, around the Big Tree, and down to Ashland. Why a death march you say? Between Jason and I and Etahn and Johnathan, we kept it nailed the majority of the time. Attacks went on the more substantial climbs, and sprints to city limit signs added up to a lot of leg fatigue. It was nice to ride on the weekend at the home front, but I was still upset with myself for not going down to Dogwood.

Sunday- Since I didn't roll down to race, I picked up some hours at the shop. It was also Mom's day, and mine came up to visit. Krista, my folks and I went out to Old Chi-town and had some grub. Good times.

Monday- Darby and I woke up before work hours to hit up a coffee loop. The morning was nice, and the ride was good and slow, recovering from the weekend. Today, I also recieved notice that I passed my NSCA Exam (See Monday, April 4th for details on my preperation for the exam). This is a huge deal, and I am really excited about that.

Tight Pants Tuesday- No matter what, this ride is almost always hard. Yesterday was the first real "hot" day of the year. It was nearly 90, and the pace was high from the gun. KOMU was out on the road video taping us as we preformed "a Mexican echelon" (which Tracey still needs to explain to me what a Mexican echelon is). Yeah, so we are famous. You should all tune into the news over the next few days, so you can see the wrath that bike racing brings to small towns all over the country.

After several attemts to get away, I burned all my matches trying to jump Etahn up the final climb. Though I got away real quick and in a hurry, I had nothing left. I let most go by, jumped on the back, and cruised on in.

Today- Studies for me...Micah should be in town around 2pm so I will probably take a study break ride with him and Jason. Micah, TJ and I are going to roll out to Joe Martin tomorrow after my finals. I am really excited to go down to this race and line up with the best in the country. More on that later
